Unknown to many people, everyone actually has hemorrhoids. In anatomical terms, they are defined as “lump of tissue located at the junction of the anus and rectum.” However, due to various factors, they grow large and cause pain.

The definite causes of enlargement of such lump of tissue are not yet known. But the most common factors that trigger the enlargement of such tissues are poor fiber intake, chronic diarrhea or constipation, aging, pregnancy, and anal sex. They are either internal or external.

Internal hemorrhoids appear inside the rectum and the external appear on the skin around the anus. An internal hemorrhoid also bleeds especially when irritated and, when untreated, it can lead to more severe cases such as the strangulated or the prolapsed hemorrhoids. An external hemorrhoid, which is sometimes painful, is more prone to thrombosis. The hemorrhoid becomes thrombosed hemorrhoid when the vein is ruptured and when blood clot appears.

Such condition is very common that it affects about 50% of the population by age 50. Pregnancy is also the most common factor that causes the hemorrhoidal vessels to expand or get irritated. Hemorrhoidal vessel enlargement among pregnant women, however, often disappears after child birth.

There are four types or stages of hemorrhoids according to severity. A stage 1 hemorrhoid is internal and is the least problematic, while a stage 4 is the worst that often cause bleeding and pain. A stage 4 hemorrhoid is external.

Symptoms of Enlargement of Hemorroidal Vessels

Although half of the population has hemorrhoids, only a few experience symptoms. This enlargement of the hemorrhoidal vessels is not really life threatening and symptoms usually disappear within a few days. Some people do experience hemorrhoidal symptoms, which cause discomfort and pain.

The most common sign you have hemorrhoidal vessels inflammation when you spot blood on your stool. Internal hemorrhoid may also protrude through the anus. This hemorrhoid is called protruding hemorrhoid.

The most common symptoms of external hemorrhoid include lump around the anus, and swelling that cause pain. Such condition is also called thrombosed external hemorrhoid.

There are various anorectal condition symptoms that are often incorrectly referred to as hemorrhoidal symptoms. These include fissures, and anorectal irritation and itching.

When you spot blood in the stool, consulting a health care professional is important as hemorrhoids may be a symptom of a more serious illness like digestive diseases and colorectal cancer.

Hemorrhoids is defined as the inflammation and swelling of veins in the rectum and anus area. It is also known as piles and is a common condition among all age groups. Women, though, are the common sufferers of hemorrhoids. Such swelling usually is usually caused by constipation, menstruation, and pregnancy. Though not life threatening, Hemorrhoids should not be taken for granted especially that it can be treated with simple hemorrhoids home remedies.

Hemorrhoids are associated with pain, itching and bleeding. These symptoms normally last for a few days. But if not treated, they could get worse and become bleeding piles. In this case, veins on the rectum and anus area burst out, resulting into anal bleeding. Piles should, therefore, be taken seriously and this could be done in the comfort of your own home.

To effectively treat piles, it is imperative for us to understand its causes so as to develop preventive measures and effective home cures. Increased straining during bowel movements triggered by diarrhea and constipation, hypertension, insufficient liquid intake, obesity and pregnancy are just some of the most common causes of hemorrhoids.

Prevention is indeed always better than a cure. Having said this, drinking sufficient amount of water and eating fruits and vegetables are the most powerful hemorrhoids home remedies. This would also help in reducing bowel movement strain that mainly causes piles. Other factors like diarrhea and constipation will also be prevented.

Dry figs are proven effective against hemorrhoids. Soak dry figs in clean water over night and drink it before taking your breakfast. Dried mango seeds also have healing effects against bleeding piles. Dried mangoes should be powdered and mixed with honey. Take a gram or two doses of this everyday to alleviate the pain and bleeding.

Radish is also a beneficial plant that is best for Hemorrhoids. This could be taken into various ways and would have the same healing effects. Grated radish can be taken with honey or could be turned into a radish juice added with a pinch of salt. Radish juice can be taken in doses of 60-90 ml two times a day, preferably during morning and evening. To relieve pain and swelling, radish can be ground and mixed with milk, making a great paste that can be applied on an irritated pile.

Making fresh juice out of the bitter leaves of gourd is also a proven home remedy for piles. Mixing it with milk, drinking three teaspoon of the said juice every morning can give soothing effects.

Changing your diet, accompanied by sufficient intake of water and simple exercises, can help a lot to prevent hemorrhoids from appearing or from worsening. Along with exercise; water, fruits and vegetables are indeed proven to have great healing effects for Hemorrhoids, making them the most effective hemorrhoids home remedies.

External hemorrhoids are distinguished based on the area of appearance. In this case, the fleshy growth occurs around the anus. Like all other cases of this condition, external hemorrhoids are not deadly but it does cause a lot of discomfort and pain. Prolapsed hemorrhoids, on the other hand, are internal hemorrhoids that are so distended they are pushed outside of the anus.

The major cause of these conditions is the straining of veins at the opening of the anus. There are many treatments for these conditions. However, hemorrhoids can also be symptoms of other conditions. That is why consulting your doctor before applying any of these treatments is necessary.

Here are some of the most effective home treatments for hemorrhoids:

Take a Lukewarm Bath – A very simple method that can be done at home, this procedure does not require any medication. All you need is a tub of lukewarm water. Sit on the tub or dip the infected area for ten to fifteen minutes. Do this procedure regularly while making sure that the infected area is dry after the procedure. Wetness of the area can cause irritation and may cause another case of hemorrhoids.

Use Ice Packs – Ice packs are known to provide relief for hemorrhoids. Use small blocks of ice, wrap it in a cloth and apply it on the infected area.

Use Cushion on Chairs – This is especially true for office workers who are required to sit for a couple of hours. Using cushions decreases the pressure on the veins.

Avoid Tight Clothing and Underwear – Tight fitting clothes will increase the pressure on external hemorrhoids as well as the pain. Using loose garments will give enough breathing space between the skin and the garment to avoid chafing that will cause irritation.

Have a Health Diet – Eating food rich in dietary fiber and increasing liquid intake will enormously help relieve the condition.

Medication – Allopathic medicines and other herbal medicines are used to cure hemorrhoids as well. For bigger hemorrhoids, surgery is an option.

There are many causes for external hemorrhoids and prolapsed hemorrhoids. Heredity, disorders in bowel movement, obesity, and pregnancy. Deficiency in vitamin E as well as liquid intakes also contributes to this disorder. Your physician should decide on what type of treatment to go for. Hemorrhoids are not lethal but they can be symptoms for other diseases such as anal fissure, rectal cancer, anal fistula, perianal hematoma, anal abscess, and other diseases.

Hemorrhoids, which refers to the inflammation or swelling of veins in the anus and rectum, causes a lot of discomfort and pain. And if you already went through the hassles of having hemorrhoids, you most likely don’t want to go through any of such hassles again. To avoid having this painful inflammation, the best thing you should do is to know how to prevent hemorrhoids from coming back.

As a saying goes, prevention is better than a cure. Although hemorrhoids just disappear in a few days and are really not considered deadly, flare ups and complications can still occur. And when this happens, you surely would have to suffer from pain and discomfort. Thus, it is pretty obvious that dealing with them is harder than preventing them to occur. Here are some tips on how to prevent hemorrhoids to occur.

Healthy Diet

Foods that are high in bad fats and low in fiber may cause diarrhea or constipation, which increases your chances of getting hemorrhoids. Increasing your intake of fiber also helps you feel lighter and helps you avoid other diseases. In addition to increased intake of fiber, increase intake of fluids as they help in the digestion of food. Fluids are important for your digestive tract to be efficient. Also, make sure to add natural laxatives, such as prunes, in your diet to have a regular bowel movement.

Among the best food you should consume to increase your fiber intake include, peas, pears, prunes, papaya and psyllium. Food that are rich in complex carbohydrates such as potatoes, blackberries, broccoli, and wheat pasta are also essential in maintaining a health bowel movement.

Food rich in vitamin B complex can also help improve bowel movement and reduce chances of hemorrhoids to occur. Peanuts, pork, potatoes, and pulses are great sources of such nutrient.

Vitamin C, which helps tone and shrink swollen veins, is also important to prevent hemorrhoids from appearing. Also add vitamin E in your diet. This vitamin hastens healing of rectal bleeding to prevent hemorrhoids from worsening in case they have appeared.

Healthy Lifestyle

In this fast-paced world, it is often difficult for us to do regular exercise. Sedentary jobs can increase your chances of having hemorrhoids. Find time to do exercise even if you have a very busy lifestyle. Instead of taking the elevator to your apartment, why not take the stairs? But take note that doing exercise when hemorrhoids have already occurred can only make the condition worse.

Moreover, keep yourself clean. And when you feel you need to use the restroom, do not strain as this will only trigger hemorrhoids to develop.

These tips do not only help you prevent hemorrhoids. They are also your tools to combat other diseases.

Hemorrhoids is an anatomical term that refers to the cushion of tissues that is filled with blood vessels. It is found at the junction of the anus and the rectum. The condition happens when the veins in the anus and the rectum are swollen or inflamed. It also refers to the hemorrhoid tissue’s varicosities.

There are two types of hemorrhoids – the external and internal hemorrhoids. If it occurs outside the anal verge, it is known as an external hemorrhoid. Such hemorrhoid is at times painful due to the swelling and irritation. It is also prone to thrombosis. Thrombosis happens when the vein ruptures and the blood clots.

On the other hand, internal hemorrhoids occur inside the rectum. People who have this condition are usually unaware that they have it since pain receptors are lacking in this area. This is the reason why it is not really too painful. However, it may bleed when irritated. Internal hemorrhoids may also lead to two severe conditions if untreated. The first is known as the prolapsed hemorrhoids, which are too distended that they are pressed outside the anus. The second severe condition is known as the strangulated hemorrhoid wherein the prolapsed hemorrhoid is trapped outside the anal opening.

While hemorrhoids are not dangerous or life threatening, it still causes discomfort and pain. Some of its major causes are constipation or diarrhea, portal hypertension, obesity, pregnancy, insufficient liquid on stool, excess of lactic acid on stool, vitamin E deficiency, and eating too much spicy food.

Drinking more liquid and eating food rich in dietary fiber will help prevent hemorrhoids. Exercising, reducing the strain and time of each bowel movement, practicing good posture, and getting rid of too tight underwear and clothing are some of the ways to alleviate the condition.

There are many treatments available for such condition as well. Each treatment varies in effectiveness, price, and risk. Hydrotherapy is commonly used in case of external hemorrhoids. Cold compress and taking topical analgesic, moisturizer, and astringent are also effective in curing the condition.

There are also surgical and non medical treatments for hemorrhoids. Such treatments include rubber band ligation wherein a rubber band is applied onto the area to cut off the blood supply. Desiccation of electrical current known as hemorrhoidolysis is also a common treatment. Sclerotherapy, a process wherein sclerosant or some other hardening agent is injected on the infected area, can cause the vein walls to collapse.

Hemorrhoids may not be lethal but it could also be a symptom of a more serious problem. This is the reason why it is advised to consult a physician to make sure there are no life threatening conditions to worry about.

Hemorrhoids, also commonly known as piles, refer to the inflammation of veins in the anal canal. It is a very common condition that affects both men and women. In fact, hemorrhoids affect more than 50% of the population according to studies. Because such inflammation can cause pain and discomfort, treating it with natural remedies for hemorrhoids is essential.

Hemorrhoids manifest through symptoms like hemorrhages, itchiness, feeling of pressure and pain and eczema. There are various conventional treatments available, from medications to surgeries.

Most hemorrhoids can be treated through simple changes in diet to improve bowel habits. Others do not require the use of medicinal drugs and surgeries unless the hemorrhoids are too large and painful to bear. Home treatments are available which mainly involves promotion and establishment healthy bowel habits. Home treatments include eating healthy and fiber-rich food like fruits and vegetables and doing simple measures that may keep piles from worsening.

Below are some of the natural home remedies that you can do to gain immediate relief and keep hemorrhoids from getting worse:

Sit bath in lukewarm water several times a day. To do this, simply fill the bathtub with warm water just enough to cover the affected anal area. Soak for about 15 minutes at a time. Do this every day especially after having some bowel movement.

Apply warm, damp towels on the area several times a day.

Apply natural astringents and soothing agents like Aloe Vera, Cranesbills, Witch hazel (astringent), and honey from time to time.

Do not rub the anal area. Instead of using toilet papers, rinse using clean running water. Then pat the anal area dry using cloth and towels after cleansing

Use soaps that contain no dyes or perfumes that could further irritate the anus.

Most hemorrhoids do not require the use of surgical methods to heal. They usually go away in a few days. However, in case the condition becomes severe enough to cause medical emergencies like excessive bleeding, physicians would suggest surgical treatments.

Large internal hemorrhoids that inflict too much pain are usually removed through hemorrhoidectomy. It is considered the most successful method to treat large internal hemorrhoids.

Natural remedies for hemorrhoids therefore are the best solution to prevent and alleviate hemorrhoid-related problems only during their initial stages. The use of prescribe medicines and surgical methods may prove to be beneficial in treating severe cases of hemorrhoids.

The term “hemorrhoids” refers to the inflammation or swelling of the veins in the anus and rectum.
